  • SEP 2025Dutchess County IDA approved financial incentives for POU Development LLC to build two 40,000 sq ft aircraft hangars — a $40.8 million project. Phase 1 includes PFAS contamination remediation on site.
  • DEC 2023Sky Harbour signed a ground lease with Dutchess County for 7 acres at KPOU. Plans: 100,000+ sq ft hangar campus to accommodate 12–15 private jets, targeting the NYC/CT business aviation market. Status: under development. Sky Harbour info ↗

  • 2021Operations reached 60,000+ annual aircraft movements — the highest in over 5 years. New $8M DCC education hangar and $8.8M Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) facility both opened.

Control tower: No public announcement found regarding a KPOU tower replacement as of June 2026. The existing FAA-operated tower (built ~1970s, open 14 hrs/day) remains in service. If a replacement project is announced, it would likely appear in FAA grant announcements or county press releases.

Traffic commitments: No specific published traffic projections or operations growth commitments were found in public documents. County Executive statements have referenced attracting "new users" as a goal tied to capital improvements. The 2024 Airport Master Plan is the primary reference for future planning intentions.

DCC Aviation Program

Dutchess Community College operates its Aviation Education Center on the grounds of KPOU, offering three aviation programs. DCC flight training generates a significant share of local airport operations — residents may wish to contact the program regarding training-related flight activity over the area.

Programs: Aviation Science (Pilot) · Aviation Management · Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT). Partner: US Aviation Academy (flight ops since Jan 2021). First FAA-certified aviation program in NY in 50 years at time of DCC opening (2021).
